I have a 2185 I've had about 4 years now, over 1000 hours, meter stopped at 986.
I recently picked up a 2550 with 375ish hours

I'd say they are about the same exact thing, obviously the 2550 is 12 years newer and does have a different rearend.
The 2185 is faster
The 2550 has a really nice seat

I like mowing with both of them, they drive about the same
the 2550 steering is a little harder, pretty sure it was never greased.

I've used the 2185 for snow plowing and it is unstopable with loaded tires and 4 suitcase weights.
