if you remove a rear tire it will probably be easy to change the oil and filter. My rears are foam filled, with the 75 pound weights and chains - so its quite a bit of work to get them off. Thats why when I change the filter I have to remove the deck to have room for my oil catch pan and me down there. But since my deck comes of every fall its no real extra work. you may be younger and more flexible than I am. You will need a pretty big pan since there is about 7 quarts in there. I use a much smaller pan for the filter change.
I dont use the mower deck often but I still put it on every year - service the deck(s) in the winter and snow blower in the summer. I switched to ztr cutting about ten years ago the 2182 is just or fun or really hot days I can mow in the shade of the cab with the fan blowing on me, radio on.
