To answer your question:
Power steering can be put on an older cub.
But it is not a "bolt in" some lines have to be made and brackets made or pirated from later models' with PS.
My two 782's have it, as well as my 1650.
One of my 782's was purchased already converted, it utilizes super GT components like column, brackets front axle etc.
The others I built myself using a JD column and various cylinders, one cub the other Deere.
Also utilized a super steer front axle on both.

Hell, there are people that put SBC engines in them, you are only limited by your abilities/desires and finances.
