Thanks for sharing. It's always helpful to hear about challenges that others have. I would have suggested looking at the pto switch since you stated that you were having issues with it. If that switch isn't off the tractor will act just as you described.
A few of us have a cyclops tractor or two. I'm glad you solved the problem.
