I sound up going with the ECHO cs 590, but at the dealer he also had a Stihl 044 for a price I couldn't pass up so I made a deal on both. That was over a month ago and so far the echo has been a pleasant surprise. I've ran about 2 gallons of fuel through it, cutting green hickory, green ash, and an oak that was blowed over a year or so ago but still pretty solid. The echo is not shy on power, but is probably heavier than this 044. Also you feel a bit more vibration with the echo. Overall I'm happy with the results.
