Today I decided to tackle the frozen choke and throttle cables. Took the throttle control off the inside of the tower (two round head machine screws with nuts and lock washers inside) and found that the cable jacket unscrews from the throttle lever assembly. (which means a replacement would need to be the exact same diameter and thread pitch) so I pulled the inner cable out, clamped one end in the vice and pulled some 320 sandpaper to clean it up. Then flushed the inside with wd40, and pb blaster, then poured graphite powder in the end and pumped some engine assembly lube. Also coated the inner cable itself after fixing any bends. For the choke, I had to straighten the zee bend at the carb with plyers to yank it out. I wasnt about to try and get the backer nut off the choke way inside the tower. Did the same procedure, and remade the zee bend after the inner cable was back in.
They both work again great but not sure how long this kind of fix will last tho...
