Replacing the bushings couldn't hurt, but I think that shortening the black connector a bit would help get more travel to the pedal in reverse. When driving forward a formed rod pull pulls on the side of the hydro. In reverse the rod is pushing on the hydro control. This rod is buckling slightly in reverse as the rod is now in compression. This is contributing to the lost motion in the control linkage.

The black component I have circled in the image is adjustable and mine is as short as it can go right now. To make it shorter I will have to file the oblong holes a bit. It shouldn't take much maybe 1/8 of an inch.
