If i couldn't find another 12hp kohler I'd look for a newer command 1cyl from like a 2130 to 2166.
I've never done this swap but it shouldn't be that hard.

The predator motor (and most Honda clones) are actually pretty good. However, I agree with above -- you can find a sound used Kohler K301 or similar for less than $400. Probably closer to $100.
