I once had a Johnson FEL that came with a Sears Suburban lawn tractor. I sold it to a fellow that had a John Deere LT and included the necessary mods in the deal. It was a well made FEL but the Sears 5/8 front spindles were a bit light duty for it. That wouldn't be a problem, on say, an 1872 with 1" spindle and power steering. The QL's have 3/4" spindles but no OEM power steering, power steering is really a plus with a loader.
He's not kidding about the P/S. I'm taking the #450 blower off my 1811 tomorrow and putting it on my 1862...power steering is a life saver.
