Is the governor spring being stretched at all?? If so then maybe governor arm has slipped on the shaft. To readjust, loosen the bolt that squeezes it to the shaft then hold governor arm to full throttle position then rotate shaft of governor same direction and tighten bolt. Hope this helps.
