These tractors have a rear PTO option. There is a plug with a jumper plugged into it. This should be behind the battery. When I got my 1572 in 1998 I had the same thing happen you are describing. There was enough corrosion build up in the plug from the battery that it would drop voltage and then cause thr PTO to cut off. It took me several days of troubleshooting to find it. I bought my 1572 at my dealer and I suspect this was the biggest reason he traded it.
