Picked up a 1440
I saw it for sale about 2 miles up the road yesterday morning. Stopped to look at it, took it for a ride, and told the guy I’d be back in 10 minutes with cash and a trailer. I’ve seen it out before along with his other two Cubs, I’ve been waiting to see one with a for sale sign. It looks kind of rough with a quick rattle can paint job over the rust complete with overspray, but it runs and mows good. If I keep it, it will get a proper paint job eventually. 14 hp, so I guess that would make it a 1440. The hour meter works and shows 1035 hours. The grill housing is broken, but the rest of the plastic is in decent shape. The PTO switch stopped working, so the PO rigged up another one above it. It works, but I want to put it back to factory. LED headlights. I mowed with it for an hour yesterday. The only issues I noticed was that going from reverse to forward is kind of jerky, and a little vibration, possibly from the driveshaft. I’ll check that out before I use it much. Not sure what I’m going to do with it yet. I already have too many tractors, but it was too good of a deal to pass up, and I have been wanting to try a Cyclops.
