Cub Cadet 73 mower deck oddity

I've recently obtained a vintage (1971) Cub Cadet 73 with a 38" deck (SN: 381 U 1113). The tractor is in great condition and I'm game to get it into action. When running it recently I noticed some very noisy spindle bearings so the deck was dropped for inspection and service. The blades were recently renewed and appear in good condition but there is one thing that puzzles me. The blades are not in the same cutting plane. The right most blade is offset lower than the other ones and would cut a swath a full 1" deeper. I wonder if a previous owner unknowingly installed the wrong spindle intended for another model. From the wear, it's been used like this for some time. Surely this isn't standard issue.
