The Magnum 12 is essentially a K301 that does not use a battery powered ignition (i.e. points/condenser/external coil)

The Magnum 12 ignition system uses a magneto, which uses magnetism to create voltage in the coil which is mounted above the flywheel attached to the rear bearing retainer plate. To shut off the spark, the magneto is shorted to ground.
