It appear to be an IH built machine, so it will have a cast iron rear. The original engine would have been a Series I KT17, which is marginal at best. Many were replaced with a better Series II. I find the 82 series to be one of the best IH sold overall. They are easy to work on, they are mostly steel/metal construction, and strong. Parts are easy to find, but many think they are made from platinum. Originally the 682 had a long manual lift lever for the implements. Optional was a spring lift assist. The only hydraulics on a stock 682 was the transaxle hydro unit, which is the unported variety.
