These are arguably better bang for the buck than it's predecessors. The $7000 purchase price today equates to just over $2600 in 1986. You weren't going to buy an 1811 brand new for that money-not even close.

Of course, it's guys like me that are kinda to blame for the poor sales of these. Even though they are a good machine, I can't get over the looks of them, or the excessive use of plastic. I'm very content to use a mostly heavy steel 37 year old machine weekly, and have done so very reliably.
Anyone looking merely to mow their yard today would be best served with a ZTR. I do agree they're a bargain tho - a cyclops super was much more adjusted for inflation.
