The 289 is one of the best decks Cub ever built but their roller design is crap.

My deck rollers were also shot but the replacement rollers are too much $.

I made my own rollers and have 500+ hours on my deck and the rollers are still going strong.

I took some 2" schedule 80 PVC pipe, a Goodyear 56038 hose, (8) 3/4"x2" flange bearings, (8) 3/4 shaft collars and a new 3/4 shaft and assembled as below. This was probably more money than buying replacement rollers but they last forever. When I do it again on another deck I will use different bearings because the flange bearings were pretty expensive.
