I got my model 70 some time back now, was running good and has the mower deck under it.
So as I needed a place to store it and my brother was in need of a mower I let him use it, well it was only about 6 months and it locked up on him hard.
So I got around to it to check into how bad it was, pulled the engine and put it on my new made stand so I could pull the head. pulled the tin and it was a mess , got it power washed and pulled the head off next. lots of carbon to be seen every where, piston was near TDC but it was all one pice so next came pulling the pan off to see what the inside looked like? it was all nice and clean with no parts damaged or missing, next step was to try to get the piston to move by the use of a block and hammer.
after some carful use I get the piston to move like it should ,and it looked good to go as it was. cleaned the carbon off the piston, valves, and oiled it all up good and put it back together and got it to fire up and run nice.
does smoke some when I give it gas or back off But none that I can see when it is running. So that's what I've done to my cub today.
Its not good as new But it's running and that's more then it has been in the last two years, went from to may need to replace the engine to will run it some more. So I'm a happy camper and no I will not let my brother near my cubs again.
