Looks like you are well on your way to cutting with it. For what it's
worth, getting the old crusty grease out of there was the best way to
go. Always good to go out with the old and in with the new. For all
lubes.
My experience with these spindles that have been sitting a long while.
When on the bench, they don't spin as free as I would
think. Although they are loose for sure. Once you get them hot they
spin as you would think. Run em for a bit and check. Put more grease in
em. Good luck, looks good.
