Just wondering...
There is a small heat shield under the larger heat shield that is mounted just over the PTO. The purpose is to divert heat from the engine so it doesn't fry the PTO. Is this PTO shield in place on your tractor? This could be contributing to the problem. Most likely though, the jury rigged seat switch is the culprit.
