I have never changed the filter. I have not owned it long and the filter on it doesn't look old, hydraulic fluid looks new and clean as well - but I can definitely try that if you think it'll help.

I am only mowing about 2/3 of an acre so the mower will only get maybe 5-8 hours a year on it now.

Thank you for the other responses - I'll try and adjust that stuff this weekend and will reply back what my results.
