I am only mowing about 2/3 of an acre so the mower will only get maybe 5-8 hours a year on it now.

Unless you know when the oil and filter were changed it's a good practice to change them Cub Hy Tran captures condensation turns it into a waxy mess that ends up in the filter. This may or may not help but it is a good idea. Do the engine while your at it.
