Best to give too much info, than not enough so we can help you.
Before you spend any $$, best to diagnose what your problem is, and if you feel it is a starter problem, then open it up and check things.
The brushes wear and the rare earth magnets sometimes break, if the magnets are broken, its time for a new starter.
If just brushes or bushing/bearings are worn, then it might be cost effective
to repair it.
Here is a picture of what mine looks like, this one is not mine, but a picture of one like mine I fournd on the internet. It says on the side, (as you can see in the picture) that it is also the alternator.
This 1450 has Kohler K321 14hp.
