Hey all I'm trying to get a derelict 2084 I bought running. Have never heard it operate before. I have got it to sputter a bit and almost running under its own power but it's making a lot of noise. I've had the valve covers off and the valves seem to be operating properly. Had the plugs out and both cylinders are moving. The sounds it is making remind me of the recoil spring on a pull start engine slapping around while it's running. Kinda hard to describe but it doesn't sound like a rod or clattering lifters. Maybe I'll try pulling the PTO and giving it another shot. Any suggestions are appreciated. Was thinking maybe some of you would recognize what I'm describing. I'd hate to trash this engine attempting to bring it back to life. Thank you.
