Cub Cadet IH 149 Tractor PTO Help
New to this forum and thanks in advance for all the information I have already read! Looking for help figuring out the PTO on this machine.
I have a 149 Cub Cadet tractor (#: 2050047U455961 on the rear diff) I am helping a long time customer of mine with and have gotten it into good running condition but the PTO is giving me a run for my time. The intent is to use the machine with the snowblower attachment which was always engaged when he received the machine and the belt was pretty tired, thus cause to look at the PTO.
The PTO had a siezed bearing so we went ahead with rebuilding the clutch using kit 759-3489, a new bearing, thrust button (original was completely worn out) and wear button (Original appeared to be metal and new one IH-473483-R1 which appeared to be graphite material).
Reading other threads about setup and finding a few videos, the clutch went together per the instructions without issue and had no broken pieces (Springs, etc). The new bearing had a snap ring inside the race as a stop while the original did not and was flush on the end of the crank. The instructions did not mention removing it.
The issue: After reassembling everything and checking it all out, the graphite wear button appears to have started burning up from friction after a couple loops in my driveway testing the machine out. With the clutch disengaged, it just seems as though this will kill the thrust button and wear button quickly. The linkage was adjusted to allow just enough motion where the PTO was free when disengaged and fully compressed when engaged.
Hoping to work through this with someone who has more experience with these setups than I do. Thanks in advance.
