Both are capable garden tractors,
I'm partial to the 782's, having 2 of them.
I also have a 1650
Are you sure the 782 still has series 1 engine? most have long since been repowered with series 2 or Magnums.
The 782's are a much smoother operating tractor with the opposed twin.
Of course nothing wrong with getting both of them.
