What did you use to determine the generator has a negative charge? What were the readings? Or were you just looking at the volt/amp meter on tractor? And did you polarize the generator(s)? When swapping generators you need to have the right direction as in CW or CCW.

I looked at the amp meter and a digital multimeter. I did not polarize the generator, I didn't know that was needed. I got a box of parts from my uncle and I just swapped a new one in.
How do you polarize the generator?
