Why would you not do the GR starter?
The OEM starters are not very good. I know a lot of people don't like the China GR starters but I've had pretty good luck with them.
There is some rewiring to be done if you do the GP upgrade. Just an FYI
I run regular L&G batteries in all my diesels. But......I don't live where it's 30 below zero in the winter either.
