You troubleshoot electronic circuits by dividing them in half to narrow down your problem area.
In your case...,
1. Disconnect the points and condenser wire from the negative pole of the coil.
2. Connect a jumper wire to a GOOD ground on the engine or frame.
3. Turn on your key to the run position.
4. Quickly tap the loose end of your grounded jumper wire to the negative pole of the coil that you removed the points and condenser wires from.
By quickly tapping the grounded jumper wire to the negative coil pole you are representing the points opening and closing.
If you get a spark on your plug or test light, your trouble is leading towards your points or condenser.
If no spark, trouble is from coil back to ignition. (or your plug or plug wire)
