it has been some time since i rebuilt a creeper. I believe the yoke and the shift collar are both asymmetric. if they were installed backward I believe they will not fully engage in one of the settings Hi or Low. I dont recall there being a neutral on these. I would think "neutral" is a mid position not an actual designed selection position.
