So you could try bypassing the pump, run awhile without it and see if that alleviates your oil overfill issue.
If it does alleviate, your pump is the issue, if not I'd look at the carb float, needle, etc.
I'm thinking 1-3 psi would be a better option.

True story Ironman! I have a cab on my 2182 and it was WAYYYY too much work to get the cab and the body panels off to get to the pump. it was a little hard to start at times but it ran with no pump for at least five years. it did not have to bee very full to run either. I finally broke down and pulled it all apart for that pump. I am running a cheap china pump in mine too- but now its under the hood. I am betting you need a carb rebuild. the complete kubota engine and CC2182 manuals are free and available on the forums.
I think mine came from Ebay but was listed as for CC2182
