So while repairing the Trunion spring which you folks helped me with, I dropped a few parts under the tractor and had to roll the tractor a few inches back and forth to retrieve the parts.
That’s when I noticed a rather significant “clunk” in the rear end. I could both feel it and hear it easily. I did not notice it when the tractor was running. The clunk seems to happen when first rolling the tractor forward or reverse a few inches. I jacked up the rear end and the clunk seems the same with no weight on the tires. I could not notice any wheel bearing movement when I tried to check each wheel individually. And the differential allowed the wheels to move as I believe they should when spun in different directions.
I realize that the next step is likely removing the rear plate and having a look. It I’m wondering if there are other tests I could do to give me direction in what to look for when I do the inspection?
I will attempt to upload a short vid that shows the problem. I appreciate any assistance or direction you can give me.
