I’m very new to this addiction… lots to learn.
Well, that is definetly a 149. It would have had a Kohler K321A engine.
What you have in your picture could be a K241AQS (10 hp), K301AQS (12 hp), K321AQS (14 hp), or a K341AQS (16 hp).
There should be a silver sticker somewhere on the motor to i.d. it.
The big differences between the "A" motor and the AQS motor are:
"A" uses a bolt on starter/generator for starting and battery charging along with an external voltage regulator.
"AQS" has a built in starter for starting and a built in alternator and voltage regulator for charging.
The "A" motor uses an manual PTO clutch for driving implements, the AQS uses an electric clutch.

There are no real negatives to the swap, actually positives, AS LONG AS IT WAS DONE RIGHT.

The major hurdle is that the electrical systems are completely different so major wire work is involved, therefore shoddy work will haunt you.

As far as your throttle linkage, that picture is too tough to make everything out but basically it looks good.

You should go to the Tech Library and download the Wide Frame Chassis Service Manual. Look at the pictures on pages 1-2 and 1-6 for 149 and QL linkages.
