If you are using 30 weight, you will see the difference,---- is it Day and night? no
But it is easier on the engine when it is cold as it lubes better/quicker.
Try a test yourself, pour some 30w in a small cup, out of a qt. container and observe the flow,-- like honey @ cold temps.
Pour it back in the container and try the same thing with 10W30 you will see a difference.
We really are not talking a large amount of oil when changing oil on a small engine.
and above all, never rev any engine when it is cold as you are just asking for early wear/ or worse
