I got a solution!!! Seems as how your handy with tools,
1: measure about an inch and a half from the curve at the base of the shifter. Cut the shifter.
2: find a 2 inch long steel tube with an ID just larger than the OD of the shifter stub.
3: put the cut off end of the shifter one inch into the tube. Drill a hole through both parts large enough for a spring clip to go through.
4: put a spring clip in to hold peices together.
5; push assembly onto the shifter stub on the transmission.
6: weld it on.
Now, pull out the spring clip, pull out the the shifter handle out of the tube. Now your path is clear for your feet. Once on the wonderful machine, place shifter handle back into the tube, instert spring clip and you enjoy
I hope this makes sense...
