plow lift rod

The lift rod for my plow snapped... again. I guess Murphy's Law is in full effect during the worst storm since '67.
It's a clean break. What sort of steel is this made of?
In any case, I rigged up some 3/16 cable to get back to plowing. I like it so far. The plow rides up the snow bank without the lever whacking me in the knee.
