104 clutch drive plate fix
my 104 has been a working piece since I bought it used in
'72 . It's had new rubber clutches ptos even a new Kohler 12 horse engine --I use it . I've decided to do more than just fix it up and give her a paint job as well as adress the problems that need attention . things needed and ideas that I might get from you masters of cub.
clutch seems to have a rattle at times but is ok when fully engaged . the t o bearing seems ok the bracket mounting for the clutch lever came loose and required a small welding repair and of course needed adjustment . The drive plate is running on two of three pins and there are no anti rattle springs-- can you weld the other pin back on the drive plate? If the hole in either drive plate where the roll pins are installed is enlarged and loose --has anyone had success fixing those somewhat expensive parts .
sometimes when in reverse under load it will pop out of gear(not a lot)
sometimes I feel like I need to reduce the rpm to shift into 1st to keep from grinding gears but not all the time ----
maybe sounds clutch related (not winding down quickly when disengaged ?
Transm shifts ok but shifter is loose
Steering is loose maybe a rebuild on gear?
Is that a mouth full?
Don't get me wrong -It's -10 wind chill right now and I could go to the shed and she'd start right up. It just needs this stuff done . I also have 2 decks and might rebuild the spindles . I've never changed the transm fluid -kind of afaid to what do you guys think? the drive train concerns me . I'll get pictures on the redo for all to see if there is interest .THANKS
