1450 update
Got my new .020 piston, std rod, valves, guides and gasket set in today. For those that have followed my rebuild I am going to use a M12 crank in my K321. Hey, the crank was free. I have weighed the new piston and rod vs the M12 piston and rod. The new "old style" rod weighs 27 grams less than the M12 Maule rod. The new "old style" piston weighs 48 grams more than the Maule piston. This makes the K321 rod/piston assembly 21 grams heavier than the M12 assembly. I should be able to make up most of this difference by deburring and polishing the rod. I may also drill a very small hole into the top of the rod with a slight chamfer at the top to add additional lubricant to the wrist pin. This will also help lose some weight. If I cannot get the weight to match by just working on the rod, I will chuck up the piston in my lathe and take a very slight amount off the skirt. As long as I get the piston/rod weight to match the M12 weight, I should not have any balance problems using the M12 crank.
