I feel your pain Ben. I just dropped my K301AQS off at the machine shop to be rebuilt. I've found a place that will do all the machine but let me reassemble the engine myself. I'm letting them set the valves and install the piston and rings so that's done right. They are doing a "master rebuild" and will replace everything with new parts.
Once I get it back I'm going to pull the K301AQS from the 1200 and take it in and have it done as well. Once I get that one back I'm going to put it on the shelf for a spare. My wallet is lighter but I'm stoked to get the motor back and installed for the SC PD next month.
