Check first to make sure that the ignition switch and/or part of the wiring harness isn't grounding the kill wire for the magneto. Unfortunately, the best way to do this is to disconnect the kill wire at the mag, which requires removal of the fan shroud,which requires you to unbolt the motor and slide it forward after disconnecting the driveshaft. If that didn't work, try re-gapping the mag-to-flywheel clearance as specified in the manual. I think it's like 8 to 12 thousandths. If that doesn't work, it's probably time for a new $100 magneto.
