You will need a different center pulley on the 44C to work with your 109. It will have a 5/8" belt pulley and you will need a 1/2" pulley. The spindles are rebuildable. I have heard that a late 60's or early 70's GM car spindle bearing will work. I can't verify this, but if you take one of the bearings to a parts house they should be able to find what you need. The center pulley is still available from Cub Cadet. I had to replace one on a 44A deck last year. About $45 or so.

When you go into the parts window at cubcadet.com, enter your 109 into the model window. Another window will open up. Click on attachments in the list at the right and this will open another window showing all the attachments that would have fit your 109. You should see a listing for a 44A deck. It is the same as a 44C except for the belt size of the center pulley.
