If I had to buy a new one I would get another just like what I have. A 22" poulan pro with some 3 or 5 HP briggs on it. Good little mower that came with a bagger system. I use it where the cub tractor can't go. I also leave it outside behind the garage uncovered for the past 4-5 years and it has never given me any complaints, fires right up and cuts nice. I think it was under 250 new with tax. It is not self propelled but has big rear wheels which makes it very easy to push.
You can spend a lot on a push mower or walk behind these days, and most are probably not built worth half of their asking price. Look at the reviews of the cub cadet CC 98M and you will see it's a real love/ hate affair of that walk behind.
