You dont have a GOV problem, its fuel, almost bet my pay check on it.

I worked on one of those older 17 hp briggs, fuel pump on the carb, and tore it apart like 3 times. Even got my boos to double check it. Was doing almost the same thing. Turned out to be small chunks of rubber from the fuel line breaking down and getting into the jet.

All that little celonid dose it let the fuel come in for high idle. Heres some things to look for.

Are you sure its getting enough fuel?

Is the intake leaking?

Fuel filter?

Can you keep it running if you work the carb by hand, forcing the fuel in, not useing the gov and linkage?

Did anyone mess with the linkage on the control plate?

When I would tae the cables off the carbs, I would mark them so they were back in the clips in the same area, made for adjustments easyer.


I wish you were closer, I like messing with the commands! Took 3 and made one good one for my welder.
