I love my 782D. That's a fair price if it's in decent condition. I probably have more than that in mine, but I don't care because I'm not selling it. I had an 1862 once...it's been parted. If taken care of, the motor will outlast the tractor. I plowed at a plow day over the weekend with mine, ran it HARD for about an hour, and burned about 3/4 of a gallon of diesel. You cannot beat the fuel economy.

Check out the driveshaft by driving the tractor if you can. At full throttle, there should be almost no vibration. With a new driveshaft, you can't tell the tractor's running by feel, and I'm not kidding. If it shakes at full throttle, the driveshaft is probably shot and will cost about $150-200 in parts and an entire afternoon of the worst work you've ever had to do...I've done 3 of them, and it's the least favorite repair I've ever had to do in 6 years on these things. Subtract that amount from his asking price if the driveshaft is bad. If it hasn't been replaced, it probably is bad. Diesels eat driveshafts. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. I've had 2 diesels and still have one.
