Got a couple questions about the steering gear on my Original. First, when I tore it down, I noticed a difference in the bearings from the newer columns. My O has 10 balls at each bearing with none of those plastic spacers/holders. A parts search shows that the 8 balls with spacers is the available replacement, same as the newer columns. Is that the way I should go?
Also the threaded hole in the steering cam lever for the cam follower is wallowed/stripped out. I placed an ad for a used one, but has anyone repaired this? I thought of welding it up, then drilling and tapping.
