It sounds like a dealer that has poor service department and a problem with the gasket in the gas cap-not the ethanol in the fuel.
You are probably correct about the ethanol. One thing I did notice when replacing the one piece of the hose was it was very brittle feeling compared to the other pieces. The actual fuel line consists of 4 pieces. The one in the tank is the hard plastic type tubing and then a short piece of 1/4 inch hose with a valve on it (the brittle piece).On the other end of the valve is another hose about 30 inches long than hooks to the filter.From there another 9-10 inch hose to the pump then another 3 inch to the carb. When I removed the cap on the tank,there was still pieces of the gasket in the slot it was installed in. It was so swelled,I had to use a pick to get it out of the slot area. That's what makes me believe the ethanol had something to do with it..And yes,the dealer is really terrible as well...
