As an additional thought, if the motor portion is bad (open or shorted) you may want to take it to a motor repair shop to see if it can be repaired.

If the motor is "stalled out" (dry bearings, broken gears, etc) you could dismantle the assembly & see what is causing the "stall". Most parts are still available for a rebuild.
