Default New to the club

Hey everyone, just joined! My name is Tony, I'm 38 and live in Michigan and am the 3rd generation owner of this Cub Cadet 1811. My grandfather bought it brand new back in 1986 or 1987. After my grandfather passed my dad used it for a few years, primarily for throwing snow. I am now carrying the torch after my dad passed, so I rented a U-Haul and towed it the 3hrs across the state back home. Besides the snow thrower, it also came with a 50in mower deck that hasn't been used in the past 10 years or so. I am hoping to use it this winter to clear the snow from our driveway and 2-track that leads back to our property, as well as get the mower deck in good condition for the spring. Any suggestions or insight is welcome!

Welcome to OCC Tony. The 1811 was one of the best garden tractors built by Cub Cadet. Lots of good info and people on here to offer help if you need it.

Wheel weights and load the rear tires. That blower is HEAVY. They work awesome. Enjoy it!

Ditto On the weight for that Standard Garden tractor even the Bigger supers need the weight. There a decent Blower But You will feel that weight when turning with them on with the Manual steer on the 1811 Look Up super steer conversion. It will make you life a little easier with that Blower On

Any suggestions on after market wheel weights for these older tractors? It sounds like I could maybe get 100lbs by loading the tires, and another 100-150 with wheel weights if I can find some that don't cost a fortune.

Marketplace on face ache is probably your best bet. The spacing is pretty standard for the bolts iirc.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
