Hello,
as my 1961 Cub Cadet Original is located at my holiday home far away i still wasn't able to fix my problem of spark only during starter cranking by battery. My holidays are always short, so next time i'm planning to install a new starter generator and a new voltage regulator to fix the problem quick. Can anyone of you help me out with part numbers for my tractor so i can get the correct ones? Thanks again for your help! Jan |

Good morning,
as i don't get any data concerning the original voltage regulator i am thinking of buying a newer type vr (the ones with cooling fins). On my knowledge i have the Kohler K161 engine and a 4 terminal vr, do you think i can put in a three terminal type that is sold for the K161? I have the Delco starter generator, not sure if later engines have different wattage on the generator. Thanks and kind regards! Jan |

Starter/Generator IH-330820z
Regulator IH-121577-c2 These are the part numbers listed for the original however you'll likely need to cross reference these numbers for suitable AFTERMARKET replacement. I like going to DB electrical for the SG however I offer no advice on regulators because I had no success with the aftermarkets. For this, I prefer to find NOS which isn't easy.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
