There was an article on grooving heads in the Red Power Magazine. I (we) lost the magazine. I did groove the heads on 3 kt17 on 782 CC. Both of the guys that I did them for say that they never had them start so easy even cold weather. I has to do with turbulance and more complete mixture of air and fuel. The one friend has about seven 782 CC. He said the only ones to start this winter were the grooved ones. I just thought that maybe someone else might have tried it too.

Im glad you put that up Dutchman! I had never, never seen or heard of such a thing ever. It Really leads to what I have been thinking deep inside my head a long time, as how combustion couldn't be led to entrance/ exit . Thank you for clearing that up.

I only know what the guys tell me and all 3 engines start much better. I have an extra set of heads for my 982 and I will be trying grooving them. I will also try it on a spare head for my 123

I am going to try it on my heads. After I get the engines running like I think they need to be.

You most likely will have to adjust fuel mixture due to increased efficiency

I would think that any gain had by doing this would be offset by the loss of compression the groove would make.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
